November and December 2024 Update

November and December 2024

HELLO FROM KAMPOT

What's been happening at Epic Arts.

The past few weeks have been bustling with activity at Epic Arts.

We were delighted to welcome back Katie, one of our Founders, who is currently visiting Kampot with her family.

The nationwide tour of "Call My Name" by Epic Arts Dance is nearing its finale, having mesmerized audiences in 11 locations throughout Cambodia.

Kampot hosted the annual Sea Festival this year, drawing in a crowd of thousands. Epic Arts proudly participated with a booth dedicated to highlighting our initiates and the unique offerings of Epic Arts Cafe.

Thanks again to all of our Epic Arts supporters, we really appreciate everything you do to help us spread the word that every person counts (EPiC)!

Inspiring Stories

Sokny has worked with Epic Arts since 2007 and during this time has progressed from accounting assistant to Country Director. Most recently she just completed the prestigious Yale World Fellows Program in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Yale World Fellows Program is a 4 month international fellowship designed for rising global leaders at Yale University and is made up of 16 members from around the world.

Sokny says she felt honored and humbled to be one of the first fellows from Cambodia, especially considering there were more than 4,000 applications. And that every day presented a new opportunity to learn, share and contribute in a dynamic environment.

Reflecting on her work at Epic Arts Sokny says "One of my most rewarding moments has been seeing the profound impact of our work on children and youth with disabilities. This change isn't just about altering their current situations—it's about unlocking their potential and inspiring them to envision a brighter future.

Witnessing their growing acceptance within families and communities and observing shifting mindsets and policies toward disability inclusion locally and nationally has been incredibly motivating.

These shifts transform individuals' lives and lead to better policies, fueling my passion and desire to continue bringing greater hope to the disability community".

We are immensely proud of Sokny's remarkable achievements. The skills she has honed through the Yale World Fellows program will greatly enhance Epic Arts, allowing us to expand our reach, improve our effectiveness and foster innovation and inclusivity in all our initiatives.

Events and Performances

December 3rd was international day of persons with disabilities. An important day which serves as a reminder in promoting the rights and well being of persons with disabilities.

We marked the occasion with a special event at Epic Arts Cafe which included dance performances by our talented Inclusive Arts Course (IAC) students, an IAC student art exhibition and a popup IAC salon offering professional manicures and pedicures.

The day coincided with GivingTuesday and through fundraising we raised an impressive $12,490 in just 24 hours. These essential funds will further our mission of transforming the lives of people with disabilities so they can thrive.

Thank you to everyone who supported us on December 3rd!
