Inspiring Stories
Sokny has worked with Epic Arts since 2007 and during this time has progressed from accounting assistant to Country Director. Most recently she just completed the prestigious Yale World Fellows Program in New Haven, Connecticut.
The Yale World Fellows Program is a 4 month international fellowship designed for rising global leaders at Yale University and is made up of 16 members from around the world.
Sokny says she felt honored and humbled to be one of the first fellows from Cambodia, especially considering there were more than 4,000 applications. And that every day presented a new opportunity to learn, share and contribute in a dynamic environment.
Reflecting on her work at Epic Arts Sokny says "One of my most rewarding moments has been seeing the profound impact of our work on children and youth with disabilities. This change isn't just about altering their current situations—it's about unlocking their potential and inspiring them to envision a brighter future.
Witnessing their growing acceptance within families and communities and observing shifting mindsets and policies toward disability inclusion locally and nationally has been incredibly motivating.
These shifts transform individuals' lives and lead to better policies, fueling my passion and desire to continue bringing greater hope to the disability community".
We are immensely proud of Sokny's remarkable achievements. The skills she has honed through the Yale World Fellows program will greatly enhance Epic Arts, allowing us to expand our reach, improve our effectiveness and foster innovation and inclusivity in all our initiatives.
