Celebrating Connection and Inclusion: Epic Arts at Deaf Day 2025

This month were proud to take part in the 13th Cambodian and 68th International Deaf Day, organised by the Ministry of Social, Veteran and Youth Rehabilitation.

The vibrant celebration brought together around 400 participants, including people who are deaf, hard of hearing, and non-disabled, all united in a beautiful day of connection, communication and community.

Epic Arts were honored to join in recognising the talents, contributions and voices of the deaf and hard of hearing community in Cambodia. From performances to interactive activities, the event highlighted the power of inclusion and the importance of ensuring that everyone can belong, participate and thrive.

Together, we continue our mission to build a society where communication knows no barriers and inclusion is a reality for all.

Events and Performances

Kampot's Inclusive Education Movement

A powerful wave of change swept through Kampot's streets as Epic Arts and school principals and other educators from the Kbal Romeas cluster launched an extraordinary Enrollment Campaign that caught the attention of drivers and community members across the province.

More than 180 teachers and students gathered to champion a simple yet transformative message: every child deserves quality education- no exceptions, no barriers.

The event became a celebration of inclusive education, where participants learned practical strategies for welcoming students with disabilities into mainstream classrooms. Teachers shared experiences, students demonstrated solidarity and the community witnessed what education equity looks like in action.

"This isn't just about enrolment numbers," explained one participant. "It's about fundamentally changing how we see education as a right for all children, regardless of ability."

The visibility of the campaign, with its procession through Kampot's streets, sparked conversations in homes and businesses throughout the province. Parents asked questions. Students felt inspired. And most importantly, families with children with disabilities saw hope.

Thanks to dedicated partners and Caritas Australia's support, Kampot is proving that inclusive education isn't a distant dream, it's happening now, one enrolled student at a time.

Inclusive Arts

Why Inclusive Arts Matters: Epic Arts Dance Leading The Way

Art has the power to change how we see the world and each other. At Epic Arts, our inclusive dance company proves this every time we take the stage.

Inclusive arts matter because they challenge the stereotypes that hold people with disabilities back. When audiences watch Epic Arts Dance perform, they don't see limitations, they witness extraordinary artistry, creativity and skill. This shift in perception is crucial for building a truly inclusive society.

Beyond changing minds, inclusive arts create tangible opportunities. Our dancers earn meaningful employment, develop professional skills and become role models for the next generation. They prove that people with disabilities aren't just worthy of inclusion, they enrich our communities with unique perspectives and talents.

From winning Cambodia's Got Talent Golden Buzzer to performing internationally, Epic Arts Dance demonstrates that when we embrace diverse abilities in the arts, everyone benefits. Epic Arts Dance create beautiful performances and help build a future where every person's potential is recognized and celebrated.

Impact Update

Disability Employment in Cambodia

A recent article by Kiripost highlights a critical issue in Cambodia; the disability employment gap. Despite making up a significant part of the population, only 2% of persons with disabilities are employed nationwide, revealing a pressing need for equal access to skills training and job opportunities.

At Epic Arts, we’re proving that inclusion works. Of our 56 staff members, 19 are persons with disabilities, including 9 women. Through inclusive education, vocational training and advocacy we’re not only creating employment but also transforming perceptions of what people with disabilities can achieve.

As an inclusive employer and champion for disability rights, Epic Arts is building a Cambodia where everyone belongs, contributes and thrives.

Every job we create challenges stigma and opens doors showing that when opportunity is accessible, everyone benefits.

Together, we can close the gap and build a truly inclusive future.
