Wheels of Change: Opening Doors to Education

Wheels of Change: Opening Doors to Education

For children with disabilities in Cambodia's Kampot and Toek Chhou districts, the journey to school can feel impossible. Long distances, limited transportation and economic hardship create barriers that often lead to irregular attendance and dropout. These barriers often denying these young learners the education they deserve.

Breaking Down Barriers, One Bicycle at a Time

With generous support from Caritas Australia, Epic Arts distributed 50 bicycles to children with disabilities and their families between November and December 2025. Working closely with schools, local authorities and communities we identified children who needed support most- those traveling the farthest, facing the greatest challenges and dreaming of a consistent education.

The impact was immediate and profound. Suddenly, the hour-long walks became a 15-minute ride. Parents could safely accompany their children without exhaustion. School mornings transformed from stressful struggles into achievable routines.

More Than Transportation

These bicycles represent far more than wheels and pedals. They deliver:

  • Dignity and independence for children navigating their world
  • Time and energy saved for families already stretched thin
  • Confidence and motivation that comes from belonging
  • Punctuality and presence that builds academic success

Each handover ceremony celebrated not just a gift received, but a future unlocked. Children beamed with pride. Parents expressed relief. Schools welcomed more consistent attendance.

Rolling Forward Together

This project demonstrates what's possible when communities unite around inclusive education. Epic Arts extends heartfelt gratitude to Caritas Australia for making this intuitive possible, and to every school, parent and local partner who helped identify needs and celebrate solutions.

Fifty bicycles. Fifty children. Countless journeys toward brighter futures are now possible.
